itemprop=\"text\" ><p>Der Begriff Minnek\u00e4stchen stammt aus dem 19. Jh. und bezeichnet mittelalterliche Holzk\u00e4stchen mit meist geschnitzten, zum Teil auch farbig gefassten Minne-, Jagd- und Tanzszenen. Sie dienten wahrscheinlich zur Aufbewahrung der Brautgabe und waren ein Geschenk des minnenden Mannes an seine Braut. Gelegentlich ist eine sekund\u00e4re Verwendung als Reliquienk\u00e4stchen bezeugt (vgl. Exemplar im Brixner Domschatz).<\/p>\n<p>An den Ecken des K\u00e4stchens ist Herkules mit Schild und Keule positioniert. Seine Darstellung auf einem Minnek\u00e4stchen entbehrt durchaus nicht des Schalks: Der Sage nach hatte Herkules seiner Herrin Omphale drei Jahre lang gedient, bevor sie ihn heiratete. Der Ehe entsprangen zwei oder drei S\u00f6hne. Herkules wandelte sich unter Omphales Einfluss zu einem zahmen Ehemann, der aus blinder Liebe in weibliche Rollen schl\u00fcpfte, w\u00e4hrend Omphale das L\u00f6wenfell trug und die Holzkeule schwang.<\/p>\n<p>Die weiteren Elfenbeinreliefs zeigen vor einem mit B\u00e4umen bestandenen Landschaftshintergrund tanzende und dialogisierende Paare, welche wohl eine Hochzeit oder anbahnende Liebensbeziehungen simulieren, oder das weibliche Gefolge der Herrin. Dazu kommt die Darstellung eines alten Mannes, der einen Korb mit Fr\u00fcchten vor die F\u00fc\u00dfe einer jungen Dame legt, wohl um sie zu umwerben. Beinahe identische Reliefs finden sich auf einem K\u00e4stchen im Museo d\u2019Arte Medievale e Moderna Padova (Inv.-Nr. 174).<\/p>\n<p>Die Qualit\u00e4t dieses K\u00e4stchens liegt nicht in der feinen Ausf\u00fchrung der Details, die Gesichtsformen sind sehr schematisch geschnitten. Der Deckel ist in Certosina-Technik mit geometrischen Mustern geziert.<\/p>\n<p>Die im sp\u00e4ten 14. und 15. Jh. aktive venezianische Werkstatt der Embriachi geh\u00f6rt zu den bekanntesten Produzenten solcher K\u00e4stchen.
