Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Castle overlooking the valley to which it gave its name Nice and well maintained. Arrived in Tyrol, parking in the square, walk about 20 minutes, you arrive at the castle, built on the ridge of a rock, museum, well maintained interior, a nice visit to the top of the tower and for the walkways on patrol.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Tyrol Castle, less than 8 km from Merano: the most important castle in South Tyrol Really very nice: it deserves to be visited! To reach it from Dorf Tirol, you have to walk downhill and uphill: therefore, bring suitable shoes. Now publicly owned. Dating back to the 11th century, then renovated in the 12th century with subsequent structural enlargements in the 13th century. Until 1253 Castel Tirolo was the residence of the Counts of Tyrol. In 1363 Tyrol became part of the Habsburg Empire and the castle lost its importance. In the 20th century, renovations were carried out and since 2003 Castel Tirolo has been home to the South Tyrolean Cultural and Historical Museum, which tells the story of Tyrol, from its beginnings to the present day.Posted on Facebook![]()

Posted on Facebook![]()
